Process and Methodology
The figure below illustrates the process of VeriStrat® testing. The process begins by a physician obtaining the VeriStrat Sample Collection Kit. A minimal amount of blood (3mL) is drawn from the patient, processed, and the resulting serum is packaged and shipped frozen to Biodesix. At the Biodesix laboratory, the serum undergoes a multi-step processing protocol prior to being analyzed by MALDI-TOF MS. VeriStrat utilizes proprietary algorithms to process the resulting mass spectra and classify the patient into one of three categories: VeriStrat Good, VeriStrat Poor, or, in rare cases (<2%), VeriStrat Indeterminate. The test results are typically reported back to the ordering physician within 72 hours by fax. Once results are reviewed, the physician can discuss treatment options with the patient.
