Reimbursement Information

Biodesix is commited to making VeriStrat® accessible to patients who need the test. As part of our reimbursement services, Biodesix will bill insurance plans directly on behalf of insured patients whose physicians have ordered the VeriStrat test. Biodesix has also established the VeriStrat Support Hotline which is a free service with customer representatives who work with patients, caregivers, physicians, and insurance carriers to determine if the VeriStrat test will be covered. Investigating insurance coverage can be complex, and VeriStrat Support is available to offer assistance throughout the process.

Biodesix also provides a comprehensive Patient Support Program to assist both uninsured and insured patients. The support programs have various eligibility standards and are provided to ensure patients get the financial assistance they need.

Reimbursement Process

1. Insurance verification: Once a physician submits the request for VeriStrat, Biodesix will contact the patient’s insurance carrier to confirm eligibility.

2. Claims processing: Once the VeriStrat results have been sent, Biodesix will submit a claim for payment of the test to the patient’s insurance company. Biodesix will continue to follow up with the insurance company until the claim is resolved.

3. Appeals: If the insurance company indicates that it will not pay for the test or will only pay for a portion of the test, Biodesix will provide assistance with appealing this decision.

4. Financial assistance: If all appeal attempts are unsuccessful, Biodesix will work with patients to address options for financial assistance or to establish a payment plan. Patients may be eligible for the Financial Assistance Program (FAP) if coverage for the VeriStrat test was denied or only partially provided and the balance would present a financial burden. Biodesix will work with these patients and their physicians to see if this is a viable option.

5. Uninsured patient assistance: If patients do not have insurance to cover the VeriStrat test, they may be eligible for the uninsured Patient Assistance Program (PAP). Biodesix will work with these patients and their physicians to see if this is a valid option.
