Biodesix is committed to making VeriStrat accessible to patients who need the test. As part of our reimbursement services, Biodesix bills insurance plans on behalf of insured patients whose physicians have ordered the VeriStrat test. As investigating insurance coverage can be complex, Biodesix established the VeriStrat Support Hotline, a free service with customer service representatives who work with patients, caregivers, physicians, and insurance carriers to determine if the VeriStrat test will be covered and to offer assistance throughout the reimbursement process.
The steps in the reimbursement process include:
- Insurance verification – Once a physician submits a request for VeriStrat, Biodesix contacts the patient’s insurance carrier to confirm eligibility.
- Claims processing – Once the results have been sent to the physician, Biodesix submits a claim for payment of the test to the patient’s insurance company. Biodesix will continue to follow up with the insurance company until the claim is resolved.
- Appeals – If the insurance company denies payment or will not pay for the claim in full, Biodesix provides assistance with appealing the decision.
Financial Assistance Program
From covering the cost of the test to reducing a balance a patient might owe, the Biodesix Financial Assistance Program helps patients cover the costs of the VeriStrat test. Qualification for the Financial Assistance Program is based on individual financial need.
